Hi! I'm Julia, the founder of Solo Travel High. I started traveling when I was 17 with my first big trip being to the Dominican Republic, making my first flight ever being 14 hours long. It was a culture shock as soon as I stepped foot outside of the airport and a feeling I fell in love with immediately. I loved that I felt like I was on another planet, how different things can be so far away from home and how that our world wasn't as black and white as I thought it was. I had some international trips where I visited friends and after a big let down, being left all alone in Edinburgh I realized that I don't need other people to travel, I can do it on my own. When you travel alone you just see and experience everything so clearly, you not only learn about the culture and history of a place, but you learn so much about yourself and that is something that no one can take away from you. After traveling to all seven continents, taking in breathtaking views and meeting so many amazing people, I realized I wanted to help others experience this spectacular thing we call solo travel, too. I started working on Solo Travel High, this very personal project of mine, and today, I can proudly say that we have helped countless solo travelers make their travel dreams come true.
How are we different?
Having been to all seven continents and many countries, we learned so much about traveling solo. Our goal is to help others experience solo traveling like never before, no matter how old they are or what background they come from. We are not a regular travel company, and since we are not an agency, we don't organize or book tours and hotels, but we rather help you to bring the best out of your budget, we can help with your itinerary, finding the accommodation that suits you the most, answer any questions you might have, and assist you through the whole process. Based on the package you choose we will be there for you from deciding the destination all they way until you get back home or we can even assist you in a smaller part of your planning. We help you plan your trip without the high costs of being an agency.
Travel Respectfully
These days when overtourism is a problem, we think it's very important to travel respectfully. Imagine standing in the Peruvian Amazonia, the Colosseum in Rome, or taking in the breathtaking views at the Sahara Desert, when you hear people shouting, bumping into you with their selfie sticks and backpacks. It can definitely ruin the experience, but more importantly it doesn't show respect to nature and locals who live at these places. We believe that traveling respectfully is the way to go, it will make your experience better, you will learn so much more about the destination's culture and locals will appreciate it too. So how to travel respectfully? Listen, learn, don't litter, stop for a moment and just enjoy the view.
